Thousands attended the funeral on Thursday of Tuvia Simcha, who was tragically murdered in a terrorist shooting attack near the tunnels checkpoint on Route 60, outside Jerusalem.

The funeral procession began …at the Shamgar funeral home in Jerusalem and passed by the ‘Pnei Menachem’ yeshiva on Yosef Ziv Street before heading to the cemetery.

His father bid a tearful farewell, expressing heartbreak over not even having bought Tefillin for his son’s Bar Mitzvah before having to buy a burial plot. “The goy who murdered him was not interested in where the boy came from and where he was going, he just knew that he was a Jew. Let us understand that and try to maintain good relations between us, to be careful not to harm, to respect one another.”

Tuvia’s younger brother eulogized him: “My dear brother, you were the best brother. We did so much together, and my heart aches terribly. I ask that you pray for me and for the entire family.”

His melamed (cheder teacher) told of Tuvia’s interest in understanding deeply whatever was learned and hoped that Tuvia would plead before G-d for the good of his parents, his friends and all the Jewish People and for tragedy and enemy attacks in our country to cease.

Rabbi Mordechai Alter eulogized Tuvia Hy”d, calling him a pure offering, and raising his hands to the heavens said part of the prayer for salvation said on Sukkot: “Hosha na, save us Hashem. How many sacrifices we have offered this year…how many children have been orphaned, redeem Your holy flock.”

President-elect Donald J. Trump joined the 13th Annual Chabad Golf Classic held annually at the Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida, by Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens on Monday, December 9, 2024.

The guest of honor of the event was Judith Raanan, an American who was taken hostage with her daughter by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023. Both were thankfully freed 2 weeks later.

In anticipation of the event, event organizers Rabbi Dovid and Chana Vigler sent messages to Trump through members of their Chabad that are close to him, letting him know that “a freed American hostage will be at his private golf course and would love to meet him and hand deliver a special gift she had made for him.”

In addition, the Viglers prepared a special award for President Trump to present to Raanan, congratulating her courage and faith during her captivity.

Nearly 100 golfers came to support the Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens at a golf event that raises funds for life-saving surveillance drones for the IDF as well as Jewish education scholarships in the area. As the golfers waited for the cannon blast to launch the start of the golf day, Rabbi Vigler asked them to all turn around as President Trump was about to arrive.

Robert D. Burke MD, co-chair of the Chabad Golf Classic, went over to the President when he finished playing golf and whispered to him that the hostage had just arrived and was waiting to greet him. The President immediately began to walk to the tent in which she was waiting on the exquisite golf course lawn.

As Trump approached, he greeted Raanan warmly and listened patiently as she presented her artwork—the mother of King David. Her voice choked with emotion as she told the President-elect about her traumatic experiences under her Hamas captors.

“They’re monsters, aren’t they,” Trump commented.

She then told him the story of how her captors asked her name. “Ismi Yahudit – I am Judith,” she said, which also means “Jewish.” The terrorists then told her, “You can’t escape your name.”

Trump was extremely attentive and interested in hearing what she had to say. He stood humbly, allowing her to speak freely, only commenting once she was finished. After she whispered something in her ear, after which he said, “I cannot say that publicly.”

He then thanked her for being here and announced to the large crowd that he is working very hard to get the hostages released. He referenced what he has said publicly before that the hostages had better be back before January 20, or else. The president-elect then made it clear that he had every intention of doing everything it takes to bring the hostages home.

Mrs. Vigler then asked President Trump to present Raanan with an award congratulating her bravery. Trump gave it to her “In recognition of her strength, resilience and faith, and in gratitude to G-d Almighty, for protecting and rescuing her along with her beautiful daughter. With prayers that G-d have mercy upon her and on the remaining hostages.”

Rabbi Vigler, spiritual leader of the Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens and organizer of the event, told COLlive.com: “It was deeply moving to see how during a time of war in Israel, the leader of the free world —the President of the United States of America—stands so proudly and unapologetically with Israel, expressing such strong support for the safety and wellbeing of the Jewish People.”

He added, “Can you imagine what would have happened if the president of America would have stood by the Jewish people during the Holocaust or if the King of Spain would have supported the Jews during the Spanish Inquisition? It’s mind-blowing! The golfers were talking about it all day long!”

Mrs. Vigler said: “It was a great honor to have the president come to our Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens event. To see a president echo the words of the Rebbe that it is only through strength that we will achieve peace, feels like it’s Moshiach’s times!”

As the 13th Annual Chabad Golf Classic was raising funds for IDF surveillance drones, Raanan spoke about how her captors forced her and her fellow hostages to be completely silent, whenever IDF drones were near them, as they could easily have been identified and rescued.

She encouraged the participants to donate surveillance drones to the cause to help bring our hostages back home. In a spontaneous appeal, nearly 75 drones were donated at the event.

Facing the sea breeze, on June 25th, a musical event – a unique, rare, and moving concert featuring the greatest names in Chassidic and Jewish music – took place at …the Caesarea Amphitheater.

The concert was held under the title “Winning for Life,” initiated by the Friends of Magen David Adom in Israel. The evening was dedicated to the memory and lasting legacy of the 34 Magen David Adom personnel who fell in the line of duty while saving lives.

This is the third consecutive time a concert organized by the Friends of Magen David Adom has achieved such a great success, with the event declared “sold out” ten days before the scheduled date.The event was intended to thank the thousands of Magen David Adom volunteers who risked their lives in life-threatening situations to save others, and in memory of the dozens of volunteers who gave their lives in this mission. Magen David Adom personnel have saved tens of thousands of lives, working around the clock, day and night, during the October 7th attack attack on October 7th, under prolonged rocket threats and under the threat of rockets that lasted for many months.Proceeds from the concert will help further strengthen Magen David Adom at this time, as the organization needs to purchase blood donation vehicles, bulletproof ambulances, and special 4×4 intensive care rescue vehicles.

The concert included the following artists:

Performers included Yitzchak Meir Helfgot, Ishay Ribo, Shulem Lemmer, Yonatan Razel (who was also in charge of the musical arrangement and conducting of the evening), along with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and guest conductor Bar Gottfried, as well as musical surprises including the African Hebrews Israelites of Dimona and Amir Dadon. The event was produced by Yitzchak Rashi and hosted by media personality Sivan Rahav Meir.Among the honored guests were Health Minister Uriel Busso (who himself volunteers with Magen David Adom himself), Chairman of the Magen David Adom Executive Committee Avraham Mandler, Magen David Adom Director General Eli Bin, and Chairman of Friends of Magen David Adom in Israel Gil Weiser.

Magen David Adom Director-General Eli Bin praised the activity work of thousands of volunteers during the war. “Tonight’s event is special, combining all the beliefs, principles, and values by which Magen David Adom employees, volunteers, and supporters operate. This entire evening is a tribute to all those who dedicate themselves to helping others and to saving lives in Israel. For ninety-four years, and especially since October 7th, Magen David Adom personnel have been fighting to protect life, freedom, and the values that are at the foundation of the State of Israel. The spirit of Magen David Adom is what drives responders to leave their families on Friday evening to help others, enabling us to face any challenge, no matter how complex…”

Thanks to the event, close to nearly 6 million shekels were raised, an amount that will be matched by Magen David Adom’s honorable donors who already have committed to purchasing ten bulletproof ambulances and five 4×4 vehicles, valued at four million dollars.
